Happy almost Australia day.
Looks like our delightfully mad aussie friends are moving up in the world. Well, north at least.
Wouldn't that be nice, though?
There's just something about nations built upon the too-free-too-individual rejected colonists of the universe's most anal isle that makes them all too brilliant.
Freedom in facing up to the opressive nature of thinking-in-a-tight-little box? Or are we all just crazy? I know I've become more tempered here in the old country but there is something very canadian that the frogs point out and tout as the mark of wilderness.
Are we moving forwards with our brash rejection of religiously imposed moralities, sexual seclusion, exaggerated obligations and over-emphasis on class and financial importance? Or are we just whingeing that we can't do it right and are trading pinstriped skirts for a sense of justification and self-righteousness?
Knowing the general trend of my questions, it's prolly a lot of both.
